Day 14 of Gratitude - The Hoffman Bros

31 Days of Gratitude - In an attempt to publicly express my gratitude for the people that have impacted me in some way in 2015, I'm setting out to write one post a day sharing what I appreciate about them or what moment that marked me. Some of these people I know well, some I've only met, and some I'm just getting to know. There is no ranking to these posts and they aren't meant to put anyone on a pedestal. They, like you and I, are imperfect people with their own flaws, some you may have experienced. Despite those flaws, I believe we all need to have our positive characteristics called into light and celebrated. This is that attempt.

I think every soon to be parents joke about the idea of having twins in-between learning your pregnant and when you have your first doctors appointment. We sure did and the joke quickly became a reality when we went in at 10 weeks and both saw what looked like two babies on the ultrasound before they really focused in on one of them. 30 seconds later, they confirmed that reality and told us we were going to have twins. Nothing has quite been the same since.

These beautiful, vibrant, and completely different boys have been the most challenging thing Michelle and I've done in the past 3 years, but all worth it as they've transformed us in many ways.

Wild Will - I'm grateful for your imaginative spirit, your sweet and kind soul, and the passion that right now results in fits, but when you get ahold of it, will result in some incredible things in your life. You're an independent spirit always ready to run out in front of everyone. You're a peace maker when it comes to helping your brother cope with not getting his way. You're also ferocious, which I know is going to result in regular short tempers and fist fights. You're a sweet kid and desire to befriend others. You're going to be the kid everyone wants to hang out with.

Owie - I'm grateful for your bigger than life personality that is going to be up for just about anything. You're silly, funny, and rambunctious. You're going to be shy, but once you warm up to things, you're going to be the life of the party. I'm grateful for your sensitivity that requires lots of connectedness to us. I can't wait to see how you grow up the next year and what you're going to get yourself into. I think you may the athlete in the family.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to have two boys at once and the experience of seeing two completely different boys grow up at the same time, with each other. We're going to have so much time together exploring the woods, riding bikes, and doing whatever we can together. I'm grateful that I get to teach you what I know and that you'll teach me how to be a dad. I look forward to seeing what the #BrosDontCare philosophy ends up getting you into in the next few years. Help me not stand in the way of your development and sense of exploration.
