Hard Work Paying Off
Thanks to my hard working intern, Janae, who you’ll meet soon and spent a good portion of the morning making phone calls, the NeighborLink project list got cleaned up. She worked on calling all the recipients waiting for help and then updating the project or removing it if the homeowner was able to find help. Homeowners can be more resourceful than they think when pressed and neighbors can be great.
Janae’s calls freed me up so I could create a priority list of projects for the plowing crew I had to hire to get the people out that had appointments today and early this week. We hate to hire people for things like this, but our volunteer supply wasn’t as big as we hoped. Tim Groman over at A Cut Above The Rest has been a NeighborLink supporter for awhile gave us a great deal. Win Win for both of us.
Events like these remind me why NeighborLink is such an important organization and service in Fort Wayne. The people that have called all had true needs, and even though we haven’t been able to meet them all, we at least can advocate and communicate on their behalf. We can’t do it all but we can’t be faulted for not showing up and giving it all we’ve got.
Grateful for those that choose to show up with me.
