Race For Congo Update
The Race for Congo is getting close. The Fort Wayne team leaves for the 36+ hour drive to Bend, OR on Friday morning. The riders are trying to get their final rides in before a few days of needed rest in the car, although I’m not sure how much rest one can expect on a 36 hours straight drive. The crew is busy pouring over the final packing list and logistical details in order to make sure everything runs smoothly.
I think God has definitely been in the details of this trip due to the people involved and how things have come together so well. It’s neat to see each of the crew members get excited about the trip and pour out their gifting to ensure everything goes well.
We’re also at just over $30,000 raised and just $13,000 short of our $43,000 goal. Each dollar that’s raised will be matched, so consider donating to the cause. I’m personally at $3,000 of my personal goal of $5,400 and would really like to hit that goal. If you want to support me, consider sponsoring me at 25 cents a mile or even 10 cents a mile.
On Sunday night at 6pm, the race will start and we’ll begin the 2800 mile journey from Bend,OR to Baltimore, MD. My team’s first shift will be from 2am - 10am. Not looking forward to the first 4 or 5 hours of that, but am eager to see the sun rise over Central Oregon.
Here is a summary of various links to learn more about the trip, how to support us, and how to follow along. We’ll be documenting the trip so you can keep up to speed on what’s happening on the road.
