Winter Training Series Event 2 - Recap
Fifteen people from several churches gathered at Blackhawk Ministries on February 26th for our second event of the 2011 Winter Training Series. Those in attendance had the privilege of hearing from NeighborLink’s founder, John Barce. John shared in-depth where the vision for NeighborLink came from, how it got started, and where he sees the organization heading in the future. John also led a session on “How to Engage the Recipient," where he discussed best practices towards working with those we serve. He’s a wealth of knowledge when it comes to living out our mission of Practical, neighbor-to-neighbor expressions of God’s love.
Other presenters included Jeff Shatto and Steve Binkley, both members of the Fellowship Missionary Church community and longtime NeighborLink volunteers. Jeff led a conversation on what makes a great coach and Steve ended our time together challenging us to remain in the tension of difficult projects in hopes that God will use that experience to transform us. They both shared stories of their past projects and how they’ve learned how to engage our recipients with a relational and development mindset.
Steve Binkley sharing his wisdom with us.
